Nothing happens until something moves.
OOOOBY is moving!
The OOOOBY store is setting off in a new direction. We've had a great 2 years at the Glenealy Landscape Centre, and we're happy that so many people joined us for seasonal celebrations, demonstrations, courses & garden shopping. We're now consolidating all those activities & the store's stock up at Carraig Dulra farm, which is about 5 minutes' away.
As always, our online ecoshop is open 24x7, and online orders will be available for collection at the farm or we ship to all 32 counties via courier.
The new collection point for the OOOOBY Vegetable Boxes is the Community Market at the Beehive Pub on the N11, every Saturday from 10-1. Veg boxes can as always be delivered to neighbouring towns.
Storing & Preserving course - Thursday 27th September
At harvest time it is essential to know how to store and preserve produce from the garden. In this course we will cover veg and fruit storage, drying, lactic acid fermentation, freezing, hot fill ins, fruit jellies and sugarless jams. This is a practical workshop course, held at Carraig Dulra organic farm. Cost is €75 per person, which includes a light vegetarian lunch. To book, please visit our online shop or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
OOOOBY Founder visits OOOOBY Glenealy
Pete Russell, founder of OOOOBY, was over from New Zealand for the GIY weekend in Waterford, and afterwards came up to visit us at Carraig Dulra farm. It was a great chance for us to share experience firsthand - for the last 2 years we've been in touch by Skype and email only.
The histories of the two OOOOBY's have some interesting parallels - both started in a disused garden centre, both moved on to a market stall. and both started with a variety of products. OOOOBY NZ has since stopped their market stall and has focused exclusively on the veg box, so it will be interesting to see if our organic development goes the same direction!
